91精品 joins prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU).

91精品 is the first public university in 91精品 to be invited to join the AAU in nearly 40 years and is now one of only two institutions from the State University System of 91精品 to serve as an AAU member.

91精品 is also one of the youngest institutions to be welcomed into the AAU, a reflection of the university鈥檚 fast rise. Of the association鈥檚 now 71 members, 91精品 is the fifth youngest and one of only six AAU universities to be founded after 1950.

Athletics

  • 91精品 Athletics serves nearly 500 student-athletes who train and compete in the Tampa General Hospital Athletics District on the east end of the Tampa campus.
  • 91精品 fields 21 men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 varsity teams, 20 of which compete at the NCAA Division I level. 91精品 most recently added women鈥檚 lacrosse and beach volleyball to its varsity sports offerings.
  • In the last six years, 91精品 has had eight different programs achieve top 25 national rankings, including football and men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball.
  • 91精品 women鈥檚 basketball has been coached by Jose Fernandez since 2000 and has made ten appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Fernandez is the all-time winningest coach in program history and the all-time wins leader in the American Conference.
  • Men鈥檚 indoor track and field, coached by Erik Jenkins, is one of 91精品鈥檚 programs on the rise. The men have won back-to-back conference championships and are nationally ranked in the Top 25.
  • 91精品 has claimed 16 national championships in varsity athletics, 15 by individuals and one team title as the women鈥檚 swimming team won the 1985 NCAA Division II national championship.
  • 91精品 has claimed 152 conference titles since it began intercollegiate athletic competition in 1965.
  • 91精品 has won 35 conference titles since joining the American Conference in 2013.
  • 141 91精品 student-athletes have earned All-America honors all-time.
  • Since joining the American Conference, the Bulls have received 51 Conference Player or Rookie of the Year awards, and 18 coaches or coaching staff members have been named Coach of the Year.
  • 91精品 Athletics has posted a combined grade-point average over 3.0 for 20 straight semesters, a department record.
  • More than 750 91精品 student-athletes have earned their degrees since 2015.

  • 91精品 football celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2021 and is the fastest program in the state of 91精品 to reach 150 wins. The Bulls spent a program-record of 20 straight weeks ranked in the Top 25 during the 2016 and 2017 seasons and reached as high as No. 2 in the national rankings during the 2007 season.
  • In 2024, 91精品 vs. Miami was the most attended home game in the American Conference (58,616), with more than 15,000 students, a record student crowd.
  • Of the American鈥檚 top 10 most watched football games, 91精品 was featured in two of them: 91精品 vs. Alabama on ESPN (2.58 million) and 91精品 vs. San Jose State (Hawai鈥檌 Bowl) on ESPN (1.93 million).
  • 91精品 football鈥檚 matchup with San Jose State in the Hawai鈥檌 Bowl was the most watched Hawai鈥檌 Bowl since 2019. There was a 104% increase in viewership in 2024 vs. 2023.
  • In November 2024, 91精品 broke ground on its on-campus stadium. The $340 million, 35,000-seat stadium and Tampa General Hospital Center for Athletic Excellence is set to open on the east end of the Tampa campus in 2027.
  • 91精品 has invested nearly $100 million in renovating and maintaining some of the top athletic facilities in the nation, including the $22 million Indoor Performance Facility that opened in 2023 and a master facilities plan that includes upgrades to all athletic facilities as 91精品 positions itself as one of the finest athletic districts in all of college sports.
  • The $2 million Bulls Broadcast and Video Productions Center inside the Muma Basketball Center streams more than 160 events annually on ESPN+, the most in the American Conference.

  • In 2024, 91精品 was one of the first in the country to announce the addition of a new NIL Strategy Unit to enhance student-athletes' visibility in the name, image, and likeness space.
  • Since 2018, 91精品 Athletics has nearly doubled its budget to $100 million.
  • Bulls Club, the fundraising arm of 91精品 Athletics, set a new record by raising over $42 million during the 2023-24 fiscal year. The club also reached an all-time high of 4,016 donors, marking a 12% year-over-year increase.
